Fracture dislocation of the cervical spine.

چکیده
Twenty surgically treated cases of fracture dislocation of the cervical spine are presented. All patients had hyperfelxion injuries with associated rupture of the intervertebral disc. All patients were operated on through an anterior surgical approach. Ten consecutive patientas had interbody fusion with autogenous bone and ten consecutive patients were fused anteriorly with bovine (Kiel) bone. All patients injuries fused satisfactorily. There was no significant difference between the use of autogenous bone and bovine bone. [

STANDARDS There is insufficient evidence to support treatment standards. GUIDELINES There is insufficient evidence to support treatment guidelines. Early closed reduction of cervical spine fracture-dislocation injuries with craniocervical traction is recommended to restore anatomic alignment of the cervical spine in awake patients. Closed reduction in patients with an additional rostral injur...

The purpose of this report is to describe hyperextension dislocation of the cervical spine and to illustrate its often subtle radiographic features. An analysis of the lateral cervical spine radiographs in 20 patients with hyperextension dislocation of the cervical spine revealed the combination of diffuse prevertebral soft-tissue widening together with normally aligned cervical vertebrae in al...
متن کاملA technique of strengthened anterior fusion of the cervical spine.
Two cases of the severe fracture-dislocation of the cervical spine with tetraplegia have been treated successfully with a new technique. This technique consists of anterior vertebral body fusion with a tibia span added to the Cloward's method. This procedure permitted substantial removal of ruptured disks and bone fragments, effectivelly strengthened the spine weakened by fracture, and also ena...

A review of 35 cases of acute injury of the upper thoracic spine associated with paraplegia was done. In 32, a fracture-dislocation was present; in two, there was a dislocation without associated fracture; and in one, neither fracture nor dislocation was identified. A total of 22 cases conformed to a pattern of injury consisting of anterior fracture dislocation with disruption of the intervenin...
